Pocklington School 1514 Club Legacy Lunch

The annual 1514 Club Legacy Lunch was held recently in the welcoming setting of the Head's House at Pocklington School. This special occasion brought together members of the 1514 Club, alumni and friends who have chosen to leave a legacy to the School, for an afternoon of reflection, connection and celebration.

Guests were warmly welcomed with drinks and the opportunity to meet some of our current Sixth Form prefects, offering a wonderful bridge between past and future generations of Pocklingtonians. This was followed by an excellent four-course meal, thoughtfully prepared by our talented hospitality and catering team, whose efforts were widely praised by all in attendance.

The meal provided the perfect backdrop for stimulating conversation and shared memories. During the lunch, attendees heard from our new Head, Becky Lovelock, who spoke about the exciting future plans for the School and the vital role that legacy support plays in ensuring those plans come to fruition.

She commented that:

Legacy support is a deeply meaningful investment in Pocklington School's future, allowing past generations of OPs to directly shape the opportunities for future generations."

The president of the 1514 club, Tim Stephenson, also gave a short address, highlighting the importance of legacy giving and the meaningful impact it continues to have across the School community.

He remarked:

Leaving a legacy is one of the most personal and enduring ways to give back. It connects our past to our future and ensures that the values and experiences we cherished at Pocklington continue to shape lives for years to come. On behalf of the 1514 club, I offer heartfelt thanks to all who have made that commitment."

After lunch, guests enjoyed a curated display of archive materials showcasing the School’s fundraising campaigns through the ages. School Archivist, David Dyson, talked guests through the collection, offering fascinating insights into the past and providing a poignant reminder of the enduring spirit of generosity that has supported Pocklington School for generations.

Leaving a legacy is a powerful way to make a lasting difference. It reflects a deep connection to the values and vision of the School and ensures future pupils benefit from the same rich educational experiences. If you have already pledged a legacy to Pocklington School, we would love to hear from you so we can welcome you as a member of the 1514 Club and acknowledge your commitment.
